Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA)
About
Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA) is a process through which interested adults become members of the Catholic Church. If you are un-baptized or baptized in another faith and would like to learn more about the teachings of the Catholic Church, please call the Parish Office to find out more about the RCIA process.
The RCIA has been a ministry in our parish since 1988. During this time over one hundred sixty candidates and catechumens have completed the process. To support these catechumens and candidates and to aid them along the journey of faith, several parishioners are needed as volunteers.
Some members of the parish are needed to simply pray for these participants during this time of intense growth in faith.
Other parishioners are needed for the first period of the RCIA called Inquiry. Volunteers are needed to welcome inquirers by sharing their own faith stories, answering their basic questions and helping them to get used to talking about their faith in God. Parishioners can be a host home which allows us to meet in their home once a week for several weeks once or twice a year, or they can be on the team which helps guide the discussions.
The second period of RCIA is the catechumenate. Parishioners are needed to be sponsors to walk along side of a participant while meeting weekly at Sunday Mass. Catechists are also needed to lead the Sunday discussions that teach the participants about our Catholic faith.
We need all of the members of our parish family as part of the TEAM. You might be just the person we need. Please call for more information
